Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the knee bolster.
3. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle.
4. Disconnect the steering column bulkhead connector from the vehicle harness.





5. Disconnect the gray and black connectors (2) of the switch from the column bulkhead connector.





6. Remove the two wire harness straps from the steering column wire harness.
7. Remove the electrical connector from the automatic transmission shift interlock control.
8. Remove the screws from the multifunction switch.
9. Remove the multifunction turn signal/hazard switch from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the multifunction switch to the steering column.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the screws that retain the multifunction switch to the steering column.
- Tighten the screws to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).





3. Install the gray and black wiring harness connectors (2) to the steering column bulkhead connector.





4. Install the steering column bulkhead connector to the vehicle wire harness.
- Tighten the center screw to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
5. Install the electrical connector and retainer to the automatic transmission shift lock control.
6. Install the straps that secure the steering column wiring harness.
7. Install the steering column trim covers.
8. Tighten the steering column bracket nuts.
- Tighten the steering column bracket nuts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the knee bolster.
10. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
