Tightening Sequence
Cylinder Head Tightening Sequence:
Cylinder Head
Tighten the cylinder head bolts.
- Tighten the M11 cylinder head bolts a first pass in sequence to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the M11 cylinder head bolts a second pass in sequence to 90 degrees using the J 36660-A.
- Tighten the M11 cylinder head bolts (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) to 90 degrees and the M11 cylinder head bolts (9 and 10) to 50 degrees a final pass in sequence to using the J 36660-A.
- Tighten the M8 cylinder head bolts (11,12,13,14,15) to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Begin with the center bolt (11) and alternating side-to-side, work outward tightening all of the bolts.
Intake Manifold Tightening Sequence:
Intake Manifold
Install the intake manifold bolts.
- Tighten intake manifold bolts first pass in sequence to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.).
- Tighten intake manifold bolts final pass in sequence to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
Exhaust Manifold
Install the exhaust manifold bolts.
- Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a first pass to 5 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.
- Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a final pass to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.
Flywheel Tightening Sequence:
Flywheel
Install the engine flywheel bolts.
- Tighten the engine flywheel bolts first pass in sequence to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the engine flywheel bolts second pass in sequence to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the engine flywheel bolts final pass in sequence to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
