Glow Plug Relay (California Emissions)
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cables.
2. Loosen the outlet duct clamp at the upper intake manifold cover.
3. Remove the upper intake manifold cover from the outlet duct.
4. Remove the upper intake manifold cover.
5. Remove the battery supply wiring harness nut (1) and harness connector from the glow plug controller battery voltage supply post.
6. Remove the glow plug wiring harness connectors (2) from the glow plug controller (3).
7. Remove the glow plug controller mounting bolt (6) from the mounting bracket (4).
8. Remove the glow plug controller (3) from the mounting bracket (4).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the glow plug controller (3) on the mounting bracket (4).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the glow plug controller mounting bolt (6).
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
3. Install the wiring harness connectors (2) to the controller (3).
4. Install the battery supply wiring harness connector and nut (1) on the glow plug controller.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
5. Install the upper intake manifold cover.
6. Install the upper intake manifold cover to the outlet duct.
7. Tighten the outlet duct clamp at the upper intake manifold cover.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 6 N.m (53 lb in).
8. Connect the negative battery cable(s).
