Disc Brake Hardware Replacement- Front

Removal Procedure
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and the wheel assembly.





3. Remove the caliper lock mounting bolt (2).
4. Remove the support key (1) and the spring (3).





5. Drive out the support key and spring using a brass punch and a hammer.

Installation Procedure





1. Lubricate the caliper and the anchor plate sliding surfaces with high temperature silicone brake lubricant.

Important: Do not use NEVER SEIZE type products on the caliper V-ways and/or anchor plate guide way surfaces.

Install the spring (3) and the support key (1).





2. Drive the support key and spring in place using a brass punch and a hammer.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the caliper lock mounting bolt (2). The boss on the bolt must fit into the cutout in the support key (1).
Tighten the bolt to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the tire and the wheel assembly.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
7. Slowly release the brake pedal.
8. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 6-7 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
9. Fill the brake master cylinder to the proper level.
