IP Carrier Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cables.
2. Remove the instrument panel trim panel.
3. Remove the following components, depending on how the vehicle is equipped:
* The IP cupholder cover, shown
* The IP cupholder
Refer to Cupholder Replacement.
* The floor console extension
Refer to Console Replacement (Base Console) Console Replacement (Luxury Console).
4. Remove the data link connector (DLC) (1) from the IP assembly.
5. Remove the driver side knee bolster.
6. Remove the lower IP trim panel.
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
7. Remove the passenger side air bag module.
8. Remove the knee bolster deflector.
9. Remove the steering column.
10. Disconnect the body control module (BCM) (1) from the bracket.
11. Pull out the left side accessory switch bracket (1).
12. Disconnect the electrical connections.
13. Remove the IP Cluster.
14. Remove the radio.
15. Remove the HVAC control assembly.
16. Pull out the right side accessory switch housing.
17. Disconnect the electrical connection from the right side accessory switch
18. Unbolt the IP upper brackets.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the right upper bracket.
19. Disconnect the following electrical components as necessary from the IP assembly:
* The remote control door lock receiver, if equipped with remote keyless entry
Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
* The IP wiring harness junction block
* The right side courtesy lamp
* The IP cluster lead-Unclip the component from the IP assembly
20. Disconnect the parking brake release handle from the IP assembly.
21. Disconnect the following electrical components:
* The automatic transfer case module (1), if equipped
* The fuse block from the bracket
* The body wiring harness junction block from the bracket
* The left side courtesy lamp
22. Remove the nuts (4) and screw (3) holding the IP assembly (IP) (2) to the IP carrier support (1).
23. Remove the cross car duct.
24. Remove the IP center support bracket bezel (1).
Important: Remove all of the parts of the IP carrier assembly from the vehicle as one unit.
25. Remove the IP center support bracket bolt.
26. Remove the IP carrier side bolts. The left side is shown, the right side is similar.
27. Remove the IP carrier top bolts (1).
28. Remove the IP carrier (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
Important: Install all components of the IP carrier as one unit.
1. Position the IP carrier (1) in the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the IP carrier top bolts (1).
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
3. Install the IP carrier side bolts, the left side is shown, the right is similar.
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
4. Install the IP center support bracket bolt.
Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Install the IP center support bracket bezel (1).
6. Install the cross car duct.
7. Install the nuts (4) and screw (3) to fasten the IP assembly (2) to the IP carrier support (1).
Tighten the screws and nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
8. Connect the following electrical components:
* The left side courtesy lamp
* The body wiring harness junction block to the bracket
* The fuse block to the bracket
* The automatic transfer case module (1), if equipped with 4-wheel drive
9. Connect the parking brake release handle to the IP assembly.
10. Connect the following electrical components as necessary to the IP assembly:
* The IP cluster lead
Clip the component to the IP assembly.
* The IP wiring harness junction block
* The right side courtesy lamp
* The remote control door lock receiver, if equipped with remote keyless entry
Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
11. Install the IP upper brackets.
12. Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket and tighten the screws until the screws are fully driven, seated and not stripped.
13. Connect the wiring harness to the right upper bracket.
14. Tighten the IP upper bracket retaining bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
15. Connect the electrical connection to the right side accessory switch.
16. Snap-in the right side accessory switch housing.
17. Install the HVAC control assembly.
18. Install the radio.
19. Install the IP cluster..
20. Connect the electrical connections and snap-in the left side accessory switch bracket (1).
21. Connect the body control module (BCM) (1) to the bracket.
22. Install the steering column.
23. Install the knee bolster deflector.
Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
24. Install the passenger side air bag module.
25. Install the lower IP trim panel.
26. Install the driver side knee bolster.
27. Install the data link connector (DLC) (1) to the IP assembly.
Tighten the nuts to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
28. Install the following components, depending on how the vehicle is equipped:
* The IP cupholder
Refer to Cupholder Replacement.
* The floor console extension
Refer to Console Replacement (Base Console) Console Replacement (Luxury Console).
29. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the ambient light sensor on the underside of the top cover.
30. Install the top cover.
31. Connect the negative battery cables to the battery.
