Transmission End Play Measurement

Tools Required
^ J24446 Rear Bearing Installer
^ J5959 Dial Indicator Set





1. Using J24446 (1), install the ball bearing (2) until the bearing seats.





2. Align the retaining ring (1) so that the beveled edge is facing up.
3. Install the retaining ring (1).





4. Position the main housing so that the front is facing up.
5. Assemble the following tools and install them onto the torque converter housing as shown.

6. Zero the dial indicator (2).
7. Lift the rear of the rotating clutch housing with a screwdriver through the power takeoff hole in the main housing. Perform the following.
8. Note the end play measured on the dial indicator.

The transmission end play must be 0.279 - 1.549 mm (0.011 - 0.061 inch).
9. if the end play is not within the specification, a different selective spacer must be installed.
10. Remove the special tools from the transmission.
11. Remove the retaining ring and the ball bearing assembly.
12. Repeat the measurement and calculation to determine the correct selective spacer
