- J 23771 Axle Seal Installer (7.6 inch Axle)
- J 2112fl Axle Pinion Oil Seal Installer (8.6 inch Axle)
- J 23765 Axle Shaft Bearing Installer (7.6 inch Axle)
- J 22813-01 Axle Bearing Remover/Installer (7.6 inch Axle)
- J 23690 Axle Shaft Bearing Installer (8.6 inch Axle)
- J 23689 Axle Shaft Bearing Remover (8.6 inch Axle)
- J 2619-01 Slide Hammer
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the rear axle housing cover.
4. Remove the axle shaft.
5. For axles with drum brakes, remove the axle shaft seal and the bearing from the axle housing using the J 22813-01 (7.6 inch axle) or the J 23689 (8.6 inch axle) (1) and the J 2619-01 (2).
6. For axles with disc brakes, remove the axle shaft seal and the bearing from the axle housing using the J 22813-01 (7.6 inch axle) or the J 23689 (8.6 inch axle) (1) and the J 2619-O1 (2).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the axle shaft bearing using the J 23765 (7.6 inch axle) or the J 23690 (8.6 inch axle) (1) and the J 8092 (2).
Drive the axle shaft bearing into the axle housing until the tool bottoms against the tube.
2. Install the axle shaft seal using the J23771 (7.6 inch axle) or the J 21128 (8.6 inch axle).
Drive the tool into the bore until the axle shaft seal bottoms flush with the tube.
3. Install the axle shaft.
4. Install the rear axle housing cover.
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
6. Fill the rear axle. Use the proper fluid.
7. Lower the vehicle.
