Transfer Case Assemble Con't





Important: Make sure that all sealing surfaces are clear of solvent and dirt.

37. Apply a thin bead (1/8 inch) of silicone sealant GM P/N 12345739 or equivalent.





Important: Make sure that the locating dowels are seated squarely in the front case.

38. Install the rear case half to the front case half.
39. Install the transfer case retaining bolts.
^ Tighten the transfer case retaining bolts to 11 Nm (23 ft. lbs.).





40. Install the first tone wheel retaining ring.
41. Install the tone wheel.
42. Install the second tone wheel retaining ring.





Important: Make sure that all sealing surfaces are clean of solvent and dirt.

43. Apply a thin bead (1/8 inch) of silicone sealant GM P/N 12345739 or equivalent.
44. Install the rear output shaft bearing cover.
45. Install the rear output shaft bearing cover retaining bolts.
^ Tighten the rear output shaft bearing cover retaining bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





46. Install the rear output shaft bearing retaining ring.





Important: Make sure that all sealing surfaces are clean of solvent and dirt.

47. Apply a thin bead (1/8 inch) of silicone sealant GM P/N 12345739 or equivalent.
48. Install the rear extension housing.
49. Install the rear extension housing mounting bolts.
^ Tighten the rear extension housing mounting bolts to 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.).





50. Install the first front output shaft retaining ring.
51. Using the J 33843, install the front output shaft seal.
52. Install the front output shaft rubber washer.
53. Install the second front output shaft retaining ring.





54. Install the motor/encoder assembly.
55. Install the motor/encoder mounting bolts.
^ Tighten the motor/encoder mounting bolts to 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).
56. Install the transfer case speed sensor.
^ Tighten the transfer case speed sensor to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
