Additional Inspections
RESTRAINT SYSTEM CHECKMake sure the safety belt reminder light and all the belts, buckles, latch plates, retractors, anchorages are working properly. Look for any other loose or damaged safety belt system parts including built in child restraint system parts. If anything is seen that might keep a restraint system from doing it's job, have it repaired. Have any torn or frayed seat belts replaced. Also look for any opened or broken Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) covers.
WIPER BLADE CHECK
Inspect wiper blades for wear or cracking. Replace blade inserts that appear worn or damaged, or that streak or miss areas of the windshield.
SPARE TIRE AND JACK STORAGE
Be alert to rattles in the rear of the vehicle. Check that the following are securely stowed:
^ Check the spare tire air pressure and that it is securely stowed.
^ Check all the jacking equipment.
^ Check any covers and doors.
Oil the jack screw mechanism after each use.
WEATHERSTRIP LUBRICATION
Clean the weatherstrip surface, and then lubricate all door, rear compartment and glass weatherstrips with a thin film of silicone grease, GM P/N 12345579 or equivalent, using a clean, dry cloth. Colder more damp climates will require more frequent applications.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CHECK
Check the automatic transmission fluid level. Add the proper transmission fluid if needed. A fluid loss may indicate a problem. Check the system and repair if needed.
