A Symptoms
IMPORTANT: The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables.1. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all the following are true:
^ There are no DTCs set.
^ The control module(s) can communicate via the serial data link. Diagnostic System Check
2. Review the system operations in the following list in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions:
^ Radio/Audio System Description and Operation (Class 2 Radio)
^ Video Entertainment System Description and Operation
Visual/Physical Inspection
^ Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the Radio/Audio System. Refer to Checking Aftermarket Accessories in Diagnostic Aids.
^ Inspect for easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
Intermittent
Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Diagnostic Aids.

^ Radio Poor Reception
^ Audio Too Loud at Low Settings
^ Radio Displays LOC, LOCKED, or CODE
^ Radio Displays CLN or CLEAN

^ Radio Display Inoperative, No Sound from Speakers
^ Tape Player Weak, Slow, or Garbled Output
^ Reduced Volume - One or More Speakers
