Water In Fuel Indicator: Service and Repair

WATER-IN-FUEL DRAINING PROCEDURE




1. Turn the engine OFF.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Loosen the fuel filler cap.
4. Attach a flexible tube or hose 6.35-7.74 mm (1/4-5/16 in) interior diameter (ID).
5. Place a suitable container under the filter drain.

IMPORTANT: Verify that the ignition is in the OFF position before opening the water drain.




6. Slowly open the water drain valve.
7. Allow filter to drain until clear fuel is observed.
8. Close the drain valve.
9. Start the engine.
10. If the water-in-fuel lamps comes ON again, repeat steps 1-4 until all of the water is drained from the fuel manager/filter. If water-in-fuel lamp keeps coming ON, the fuel tank should be checked for contamination.
11. Dispose of the drained mixture in a proper manner.
