Front Fender: Service and Repair



Fender Replacement - Front

Removal Procedure

Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

1. Apply protective tape to the front edge of the front door and the rear edge of the front bumper fascia.
2. Remove the assist step, if applicable.
3. Remove the wheelhouse panel.
4. Remove the rocker panel molding.




5. Remove the side hood bumper from the vehicle.




6. Remove the bolts that retain the fender to the vehicle.
7. Remove the fender from the vehicle.




8. If replacing the fender to body seal, release the clips (1) that retain the seal to the fender bracket (2).
9. Peel the seal from the body and remove from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. If replacing the body to fender seal, position the seal to the vehicle.
2. Ensure that the integral clips (1) on the seal are seated into the fender bracket (2).
3. Seat the top half of the seal by pushing the seal into the outer fender gap.
4. Remove the paper backing from the seal and seat the seal fully against the fender flange and body.




5. Position the fender to the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Install the bolts that retain the fender to the vehicle.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




7. Install the hood bumper to the vehicle.
8. Install the rocker panel molding.
9. Install the wheelhouse panel.
10. Install the assist step, if applicable.
