Door Replacement - Rear Side Access

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the door trim panel.
2. Remove the rear side door window.
3. Remove the front seat belt.
4. Remove the upper latch assembly.
5. Remove the lower latch assembly.
6. Remove the latch control handle.
7. Apply cloth-backed tape to the door and body hinge pillar in order to protect the door and the body hinge pillar form scratches.
8. Remove the lower hinge pin retainers (3).
9. Remove the lower hinge pins (2) by completing the following steps:

* Use a pair of locking pliers in order to grasp the pins.
* Use a soft-faced hammer in order to drive out the pins.
* Install a bolt through the lower hinges in order to temporarily hold the door in place during the removal of the upper hinge pins.

10. Remove the upper hinge pin retainers (1).
11. Remove the upper hinge pin (4).
12. Remove the bolt from the lower pin hole.
13. With an assistant remove the door from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. With an assistant install the door to the vehicle.
2. Install a bolt through the lower hinge pin holes in order to temporarily hold the door in place.
3. Install the upper hinge pins (4) with the pointed end of the pin pointing up.
4. Install new upper hinge pin retainers (1).
5. Remove the temporary bolts from the lower hinge.
6. Install the lower hinge pins (2) with the pointed edge of the pin pointing down.
7. Install new lower hinge pin retainers.
8. Lubricate the bushing with engine oil.
9. Remove the tape from the door and the body hinge pillar.
10. Install the latch control handle.
11. Install the lower latch assembly.
12. Install the upper latch assembly.
13. Install the front seat belt.
14. Install the rear side door window.
15. Install the door trim panel.
