Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Raise the vehicle.

CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Service Precautions.

3. Remove the spark plug wires and ICM electrical connectors.
4. Remove the 3 bolts supporting the ICM assembly plate (2).
5. Remove the ICM assembly from the engine.
6. Remove the ignition coils from the ICM (1).




7. Remove the ICM from the assembly plate.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the ICM to the assembly plate.
2. Install the ignition coils.
3. Install the ignition coils.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten
Tighten the ignition coil bolts to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

4. Install ICM assembly on engine with mounting bolts (2).

Tighten
Tighten bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Install the spark plug wires and ICM electrical connectors.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
