Front Housing Disassemble

^ Tools Required
- J 36190 Driver Handle
- J 23907 Slide Hammer
- J 36507 Shift Shaft Detent Bushing Remove and Installer
- J 36800 Shift Rail Bushing Remover

Important: Only remove the shift shaft bearing if the bearing is faulty.





1. Using the J 36800 (2) and J 23907 (1), remove the shift shaft front housing bushing.





Important: Discard all bushings removed during this procedure.

2. Using J 36507 (2) and the J 36190 (1), remove the 2 detent lever bushings.
^ Remove 1 bushing at a time.
^ Remove the bushing through the shift shaft bearing bore.





3. Inspect the countershaft front bearing race.
4. Using a suitable blind hole puller and a slide hammer, remove the front countershaft bearing.





5. Using a punch and hammer, remove the input shaft bearing from the clutch housing.





6. If necessary, remove the vent from the front housing. The vent can be removed with a pair of pliers.
