Park Brake Hardware Inspection

Park Brake Hardware Inspection

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.





3. Remove the rear brake drum.
4. Using denatured alcohol, clean the rear brake assembly.
5. Using non-lubricated, filtered air, dry the rear brake assembly.





6. Visually inspect the park brake hardware for the following:
^ Excessive corrosion
^ Excessive stretching
^ Broken components
^ Bent components
^ Twisting or binding
^ Missing components

7. If any of the conditions listed were found, the park brake hardware requires replacement.





8. Install the rear brake drum.
9. Install the tire and wheel.
10. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
