Door Replacement - Front

Tools Required

J 36604 Door Hinge Spring Compressor


Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel, if equipped. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door (Service and Repair) .
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the power door lock motor and the power window regulator, if equipped.
3. Use J 36604 in order to compress the hinge spring.




4. Remove the hinge pin clips:

1. Spread the clip and move the clip above the recess in the pin.
2. As the pin is removed, the clip will ride on and fall free of the pin.

5. Use a soft-faced hammer and locking pliers in order to remove the lower hinge pin.
6. Install a temporary bolt through the lower hinge in order to hold the door in place while removing the upper hinge pin.
7. Remove the hinge pin from the upper hinge pin hole.
8. Remove the temporary bolt from the lower hinge pin hole.
9. With an assistant, remove the door from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

1. With an assistant, install the door to the vehicle.




2. Install the hinge pin to the upper hinge pin hole.
3. Use a new hinge pin clip in order to install the upper hinge pin.
4. Install the hinge pin to the lower hinge.
5. Use a new hinge pin clip in order to install the lower hinge pin.
6. Use J 36604 in order to install the hinge spring to the hinge.
7. Connect the electrical connectors, if equipped.
8. Install the door trim panel, if equipped. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door (Service and Repair) .
