Door Replacement - Rear (E54)

Tools Required

J 41226 Rear Cargo Door Hinge Pin Kit


Removal Procedure

1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Doors) (Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Doors))Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (E54) (Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (E54)) .
2. Remove the speakers, if equipped. Refer to Speaker Replacement - Rear Door in Entertainment.
3. On the right door, remove the wiring harness from the license plate lamp and the power lock actuator.
4. Remove the water deflector away from the door. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement Service and Repair
5. Remove the harness and the conduit from the door.
6. Remove the check link. Refer to Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Door) (Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Door))Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (E54) (Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (E54)) .




7. With an assistant, use the J 41226 in order to remove the hinge pins (3).
8. With an assistant, remove the door from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

1. Install the door to the vehicle, with the aid of an assistant.




2. Use the J 41226 in order to install the hinge pins (3).
3. Install the check link. Refer to Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Door) (Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Door))Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (E54) (Check Link Replacement - Rear Door (E54)) .
4. Install the harness and the conduit to the door.
5. On the right door, install the wiring harness to the license plate lamp and the power lock actuator.
6. Install the water deflector to the door. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Install the speakers, if equipped. Refer to Speaker Replacement - Rear Door in Entertainment.
8. Install the trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Doors) (Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (Cargo Doors))Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (E54) (Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Door (E54)) .
