Lift Gate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the liftgate garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Lift Gate (Service and Repair) .




2. Remove the wiring harness and the conduit assembly for the power lock actuator and the wiper washer motor.




3. Remove the hinge nuts (3) while an assistant holds the liftgate in place in order to remove the strut clips (4) and the struts from the lower stud (2).




4. Remove the hinge nuts (5).
5. With an assistant, remove the liftgate (1) from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure

1. With an assistant, install the liftgate (1) to the vehicle.




2. Install the hinge stud through the holes in the gasket and the roof panel.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the hinge nuts (5) with new washers in order to prevent water leaks.

Tighten the hinge nuts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).





4. Install the liftgate strut clips (4).




5. Install the wiring harness and the hose assembly for the power lock actuator and the wiper washer motor.
6. Install the liftgate garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Lift Gate (Service and Repair) .
