Evaporator Tube Replacement - Front
EVAPORATOR TUBE REPLACEMENT - FRONTTOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the coolant recover reservoir.
3. Remove the grille.
4. Remove the front evaporator hose nut (1) from the condenser.
5. Remove the evaporator inlet hose nut (1) from the front evaporator tube hose.
6. Remove the evaporator inlet hose from the front hose.
7. Remove the nut from the rear evaporator tube.
8. Remove the front evaporator hose from the vehicle.
9. Remove the sealing washers.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the new sealing washers.
2. Install the front evaporator tube into the vehicle.
3. Install the front evaporator tube to the rear evaporator tube.
4. Install the rear evaporator tube retaining nut.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
5. Install the evaporator inlet hose to the front evaporator tube.
6. Install the evaporator inlet hose nut to the front evaporator tube.
Tighten
Tighten the nut (1) to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
7. Install the front evaporator tube to the condenser.
8. Install the front evaporator tube nut (1) to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
9. Install the grille.
10. Install the coolant recover reservoir.
11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
12. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A.
