Air Intake System

Air Induction System:

AIR INDUCTION COMPONENTS
The air cleaner assembly is remotely mounted. The air intake system draws outside air through the side of the air cleaner assembly and filter element of the forward mounted air cleaner.

The air is then routed through the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and then into the throttle body to the intake manifold. The air is then directed into the intake manifold runners, through the cylinder heads and into the cylinders.

Air Cleaner Assembly:

If the mass air flow (MAF) sensor is installed backwards, the system will go rich. An arrow (2) cast into the plastic portion of the sensor indicates proper air flow direction. The arrow must point toward the engine.

Air Cleaner Restrictor Indicator:

AIR CLEANER RESTRICTION INDICATOR
The air cleaner restriction indicator is located on the air cleaner assembly between the air filter and the mass air flow (MAF) sensor.

If the area inside of the clear section is green, no air filter service is required. If the area inside the clear section is orange and Change Air Filter appears, replace the air filter.
