Chime Volume Level Too Loud (Adjust Chime Level Using Tech 2)

Models:
2003 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT, Escalade ESV
2003 GMC Sierra Denali, Yukon Denali, Yukon Denali XL

With Premium Sound (RPO UQ7) and Integrated Navigation Radio (RPO UM8)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the chime volume level is too loud.

Cause

During final assembly test at the console supplier, the chime default setting in the amplifier was changed to "LOUD" by the test equipment.

Correction

A procedure using the Tech 2(R) has been developed to reprogram the amplifier chime default setting to "Normal".

Important:
The Tech 2 must contain software version 23.003 or later available from Tech line starting July 2003, on the TIS 2000 version TIS 07/2003 data update or later.

1. Install the Tech 2 to the vehicle and power on.

2. Select "Diagnostic" from the menu.

3. Build the vehicle from the menu options.

4. Select "Body" from the menu.

5. Select carline from list.

6. Select the appropriate HVAC option.

7. Select "Navigation Radio" from the menu.

8. Select "Amplifier" from the menu.

9. Select "Special Function" from the menu.

10. Select "Recalibration" from the menu.

11. Select the vehicle from the list and press the enter key. This will down the necessary calibration.
