Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Ensure the vehicle is in the park position.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
Important: Do not pull on the boot portion of the cable.
3. Complete the following in order to disconnect the range selector cable (3) from the transmission range selector lever ball stud.
3.1. Insert a flat bladed tool between the range selector cable end (5) and the range selector lever (1).
3.2. Pry the range selector cable end (5) away from the range selector lever (1).
4. Remove the retainer (4) from the range selector cable (3).
5. Push the range selector cable locking tabs inward toward each other to release from the bracket (2).
6. Push the cable grommet (1) up through the floor panel (2).
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the left hinge pillar trim panel.
9. Pull the drivers side carpet up, enough to access the range selector cable.
10. Disconnect the range selector cable retainer (2) from the lower dash panel (1).
11. Complete the following in order to disconnect the range selector cable (4) from the transmission range selector lever ball stud (1).
11.1. Insert a flat bladed tool between the range selector cable end (2) and the range selector lever.
11.2. Pry the range selector cable end (2) away from the range selector lever.
12. Remove the retainer (3) from the range selector cable (4).
13. Push the range selector cable locking tabs inward toward each other to release from the steering column bracket (5).
14. Remove the range selector cable (4) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Push the range selector cable down through the floor panel (2) and seat the cable grommet (1).
2. Route the range selector cable through the dash mat.
3. Connect the range selector cable retainer (2) to the lower dash panel (1).
4. Install the range selector cable (4) to the steering column bracket (5).
5. Install the retainer (3) to the range selector cable (4).
6. Push the range selector cable end (2) onto the range selector lever ball stud (1) to secure.
7. Reposition the drivers side carpet to the floor panel.
8. Inspect below the accelerator pedal for binding, to ensure full range of motion.
9. Install the left hinge pillar trim panel.
10. Raise and support the vehicle.
11. Install the range selector cable (3) to the bracket (2).
12. Install the retainer (4) to the range selector cable (3).
13. Remove and discard the primary lock lockout pin if a new cable is being installed.
14. Adjust the automatic transmission range selector cable.
15. Lower the vehicle.
