Wheel Hub: Service and Repair
Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement
Tools Required
J 45859 Axle Remover
Removal Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Remove the brake rotor.
4. Remove the wheel drive shaft nut and the washer.
5. Disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing using J 45859.
6. Remove the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolts.
7. Remove the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt from the wheel hub and bearing.
8. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the wheel hub and bearing.
9. Disengage wheel hub and splash shield from steering knuckle.
10. Remove the wheel speed sensor through the access hole in the splash shield.
11. Remove the wheel hub and bearing amd splash shield.
12. Remove the splash shield from the wheel hub and bearing.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the splash shield to the wheel hub and bearing.
2. Install the wheel speed sensor to the wheel hub and bearing.
3. Install the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt to the wheel hub and bearing.
4. Install the wheel speed sensor to the wheel hub and bearing.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt to the wheel hub and bearing.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
6. Install the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolts to 180 N.m (133 lb ft).
7. Install the wheel drive shaft washer and the nut.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to 235 N.m (173 lb ft).
8. Install the brake rotor.
9. Install the tire and wheel.
10. Lower the vehicle.
