Stabilizer Shaft ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Remove the idler arm mounting bolts.
4. Disconnect the idler arms from the frame. Move the steering linkage to gain access to the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts.
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft links.
6. Remove the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolt and the nut (left hand).
7. Remove the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts (right hand).
8. Remove the stabilizer shaft brackets.
9. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators from the stabilizer shah.
10. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
11. Inspect all of the parts for wear and damage.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the stabilizer shaft to the frame.
2. Install the stabilizer shaft insulators to the stabilizer shaft. Ensure that the slit in the insulator faces forward.
3. Install the stabilizer shaft brackets to the stabilizer shaft insulators.
4. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts (right hand).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolt and nut (left hand).
- Tighten the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts and the nut to 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the stabilizer shaft links.
7. Install the idler arms to the frame.
8. Install the idler arm mounting bolts.
- Tighten the idler arm mounting bolts to 105 Nm (77 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the tire and wheel.
10. Lower the vehicle.
