Paint Chipping on Edge of Sliding Side Door Track (Install Velcro(R) Fabric on Door Center Hinge Arm)

2001-2004 Chevrolet Astro
2001-2004 GMC Safari
Condition
Some customers may comment on the paint chipping on the rear edge of the sliding side door track.
Cause
The door stop bumper may not be stopping the door when opening with excessive force.
Correction
Install Velcro(R) fabric on the door center hinge arm.
1. Open the sliding side door in order to gain access to the center hinge.
2. Clean the surface of the hinge arm with 3/M(R) General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, or equivalent.
3. Cut a 25.4 mm (1 in) in length piece of Velcro(R).
4. Place the Velcro(R) fabric around the hinge arm as seen in the illustration above.
5. Touch up the chipped area. If paint is chipped to bare metal, use the appropriate primer.
