Starter/Generator Rotor Replacement (With RPO Code HP2)

STARTER/GENERATOR ROTOR REPLACEMENT (WITH RPO CODE HP2)

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 46093 Rotor and Flexplate Holding Tool

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the transmission.
2. Remove the starter/generator stator stud.
3. Remove the starter/generator stator.
Rotate the stator until the 3-phase cable junction block is near the bottom.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




4. Install the J 46093 (1) and bolts.
The flange of the J 46093 should locate into the hole in the flexplate. Use two M10 1.5 x 40 mm bolts for proper tool operation.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).




5. Remove the flexplate bolts.
6. Remove the flexplate.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT use pry bars to remove the starter/generator rotor.




7. Insert 2 bolts into the holes in the starter/generator rotor.
8. Tighten the bolts in order to pull the rotor off.
9. Remove the starter/generator rotor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the starter/generator rotor.




2. Install the flexplate.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the flexplate bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).




4. Remove the J 46093 (1) and bolts.




5. Install the starter/generator stator.
6. Install the starter/generator stator stud.

Tighten
Tighten the stud to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

7. Install the transmission.
