42. Converter Housing/Front Support Assembly

Converter Housing/Front Support Assembly





1. Position main pump assembly (2) on the work table so that the rear of the pump is facing up.
2. Align the dowel pin holes in separator plate (1) with dowel pins (3) in the pump body.
3. Make sure the bolt holes in separator plate (1) align with the bolt holes in main pump body (2).
4. Install separator plate (1) canto main pump assembly (2).





5. Position front support assembly (5) on the work table so that ground sleeve (4) is facing up.
6. Align, as a unit. main pump assembly (1) and separator plate (3) so that:
^ Main pump dowel pins (2) align with their holes in the front support assembly.
^ The main pump assembly bolt holes align with the bolt holes of the front support assembly.

7. Install, as a unit, main pump assembly (1) and separator plate (2) onto front support assembly (5).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

8. Install five bolts (6)
Tighten the bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





9. Align the tangs of thrust washer (5) with the slots at the base of the front support assembly rear hub.
10. Install thrust washer (5) onto the front support assembly. The thrust washer snaps into place.
11. Install three new overlap seal rings (6) onto the front support assembly rear hub.
12. Install a new butt-joint seal ring (2) onto the middle of ground sleeve (3).
13. Install a new butt-joint seal ring (1) onto the front of ground sleeve (3).





14. Position front support module (5) on the work table so that the ground sleeve is facing up.
15. Align the bolt holes of converter housing/separator plate gasket (2) with the bolt holes in separator plate (4).
16. Apply Transjel or an equivalent lubricant to the gasket face nearest the separator plate.
17. Install the gasket onto the separator plate.
18. Apply Transjel or an equivalent lubricant onto the outside diameter (OD) of main pump assembly (3).





19. Install two M10 x 1.5 guide bolts (2) into front support module (3).
20. Align the converter housing bolt holes with the bolt holes in the front support module.
21. Install the converter housing onto the guide bolts and onto the front support module.
22. Remove the guide bolts from the front support module.





23. Inspect bolt seals (2) for nicks or other damage. Replace damaged seals.
24. Install seals (2) onto ten bolts (1).





25. Install ten bolts (1) into the converter housing to retain the front support module.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

In a criss-cross pattern, tighten the bolts to 56 Nm (42 ft. lbs.).





26. Align oil seal assembly (2) with main pump body (3) so that the double edges face the pump body hub.
27. Using J43772, install the oil seal assembly into the pump body hub.

Seal Specification
Make sure the seal is installed flush to 0.25 mm (0.010 inch) below the main pump body surface.
