C3 Clutch Plate Inspection





Important: Make the measurements described below at three or more locations. Replace any parts not meeting specifications.

1. Measure the thickness of each C3 clutch friction plate (1) at dimension A.

C3 Clutch Friction Plate Thickness
Minimum thickness is 2.375 mm (0.093 inch).
2. Measure the oil groove depth of each C3 clutch friction plate at dimension B.

C3 Clutch Friction Plate Oil Groove Depth
Minimum groove depth is 0.200 mm (0.0079 inch).





Important: Check the plates for coning on a level surface.

3. Measure the cone of each C3 clutch friction plate (1).

C3 Clutch Friction Plate Cone
Maximum cone is 0.225 mm (0.0089 inch).





4. Measure the thickness of each C3 clutch reaction plate (1) at dimension A.

C3 Clutch Reaction Plate Thickness
Minimum thickness is 2.440 mm (0.096 inch).





Important: Check the plates for coning on a level surface.

5. Measure the cone of each C3 clutch reaction plate (1) at dimension A.

C3 Clutch Reaction Plate Cone
Maximum cone is 0.400 mm (0.015 inch).





6. Measure the thickness of C3 spring plate (1) at dimension A.

C3 Spring Plate Thickness
Minimum thickness is 3.110 mm (0.1224 inch).





7. Measure the cone of C3 spring plate (1) at dimension A.

C3 Spring Plate Cone
Maximum cone is 0.400 mm (0.0157 inch).





8. Measure the thickness of C3 clutch backplate (1) at dimension C.

C3 Clutch Backplate Thickness
Minimum thickness is 15.325 mm (0.6033 inch).
9. Measure the distance from the top of the thrust plate (2) to the bottom of the C3 clutch plate inner rim at dimension A.
10. Measure the thickness of the C3 clutch plate inner rim at dimension B.
11. Calculate the thickness of the thrust plate by subtracting Dimension B from Dimension A.

Thrust Plate Thickness
Minimum thrust plate thickness is 3.000 mm (0.1181 inch).

Important: Check the plates for coning on a level surface.

12. Measure the cone of C3 clutch backplate (1).
13. Replace the backplate is any cone is present.
