Transmission Case Cleaning and Inspection






1. Clean the transmission case in cleaning solvent, and air dry.

Notice: Do not nick, scratch or damage the sealing surface. The sealing surface is a machined surface. Damage to the machined surface can cause leakage.

2. Remove the sealer from the case sealing surface.
3. Inspect the front countershaft bearing (5) for:
- Roughness
- Brinneling
- Pitting
4. Replace the front countershaft bearing if any of the above conditions are found.
5. Inspect the case for being broken or cracked.
6. Replace the case if it is broken or cracked.
7. Inspect the sealing surfaces (3) for damage.
8. Repair small scratches or nicks with a soft stone.
9. Inspect the extension mounting (4) for damage.
10. Replace the case if the mounting is damaged.
11. Inspect the case threaded bolt holes (1) for damage.
12. Repair any damaged threads.
13. Inspect for missing or loose location pins (2).
14. Repair or replace any damaged dowel pins.
