Stabilizer Bar: Service and Repair

Stabilizer Shaft Replacement (4WD)

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the steering linkage shield.

Important: Remove the parts from the right front and the left front of the vehicle. Keep the parts separated.

3. Remove the stabilizer shaft links.
4. Remove the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts.
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft brackets.
6. Remove the stabilizer shaft.
7. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators.
8. Inspect all of the parts for wear or damage.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the stabilizer shaft insulators to the stabilizer shaft. Face the slit in the stabilizer shaft insulator forward.
2. Install the stabilizer shaft to the frame and to the lower control arm.
3. Install the stabilizer shaft brackets over the stabilizer shaft insulators.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts.
^ Tighten the stabilizer shaft bracket mounting bolts to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the stabilizer shaft links.
6. Install the steering linkage shield.
7. Lower the vehicle.
