Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Clean all evaporative emission (EVAP) line connections and surrounding areas prior to disconnecting, in order to avoid possible EVAP system contamination.




1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Disconnect the EVAP canister vent solenoid line from the canister.
3. Disconnect the fuel tank vapor line from the canister.
4. Remove the vent pipe clip from the canister bracket.




5. Disconnect the EVAP pipe from the canister.
6. Cap the EVAP pipes in order to prevent possible EVAP system contamination.




7. Remove the EVAP canister bolts.
8. Remove the EVAP canister.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the EVAP canister.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the EVAP canister bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Remove the caps from the EVAP pipes.




4. Connect the EVAP pipe to the canister.




5. Install the vent pipe clip to the canister bracket.
6. Connect the EVAP canister vent pipe to the canister.
7. Lower the vehicle.
