Multifunction, Turn Signal Switch Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the steering wheel from the steering column.
3. Remove the steering column trim covers.
4. Remove the wire harness straps from the wire harness assembly.
5. Disconnect the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly connector from the base of the column.
6. Remove the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly lead from the wire harness assembly.





7. Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws from the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly.
8. Slide the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly off of the steering column. Discard the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly if replacing.

Installation Procedure





1. Important: A new multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly will come precentered with a centering tab attached. Do NOT remove the centering tab until installation is complete. Failure to follow procedure will cause a misalignment to the SIR coil and centering will be required.

If reusing the existing multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly, you must center the SIR coil.
Slide the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly onto the steering column.

2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Screw the 3 pan head tapping screws into the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly.
Tighten the screws (1) to 3 Nm (30 inch lbs.).
3. Route the wire harness assembly down the steering column.





4. Connect the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly connector at the base of the column.
5. Install the wire harness straps to the wire harness assembly.
6. Remove the centering tab from the multifunction switch/SIR coil assembly.
7. Install the steering column trim covers.
8. Install the steering wheel to the steering column.
9. Enable the SIR system.
