Lower Control Arm Replacement

Lower Control Arm Replacement (2WD)

^ Tools Required
- J 43631 Ball Joint Remover

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the stabilizer shaft links from the lower control arm.
4. Remove the shock absorber nut and through bolt.
5. Remove the lower ball joint stud nut.





6. Disconnect the lower ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using J 43631.
7. Remove the lower control arm nuts and the alignment cams.
8. Remove the lower control arm bolts.
9. Remove the lower control arm.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the lower control arm.
2. Install the lower control arm bolts.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important: The fasteners must be tightened in sequence. Tighten the rear nut first then the front nut.

3. Install the nuts and washers.
^ Tighten the rear nut to 155 Nm (114 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the front nut to 155 Nm (114 ft. lbs.).





4. Connect lower ball joint stud to the steering knuckle.
5. Install the nut to the ball joint stud.
^ Tighten the nut to 145 Nm (107 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the shock absorber through bolt and nut.
7. Install the stabilizer shaft links to the lower control arm.
8. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Verify the wheel alignment.
