Differential Carrier Assembly Bushing and Bracket Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: The bushing for the mounting bracket are not serviced separately. They are serviced with the mounting bracket.





1. Remove the wheel drive shaft.
2. Support the front drive axle assembly.





3. Remove the mounting bracket to frame bolts.





4. Remove the bolts mounting the bracket to the disconnect housing.





5. Remove the mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure





1. Position the mounting bracket to the frame.






Important: In the following service procedure, DO NOT completely tighten the bolts mounting the bracket to the frame. Leave the bolts loose to allow for bracket alignment to the intermediate shaft housing.

2. Install the mounting bracket bolts to the frame.






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the mounting bracket bolts to the intermediate shaft housing.
^ Tighten the mounting bracket bolts to 152 Nm (112 ft. lbs.).
4. Tighten the mounting bracket bolts.
^ Tighten the mounting bracket to frame bolts to 152 Nm (112 ft. lbs.).
5. Remove the support from the front drive axle assembly.





6. Install the wheel drive shaft.
7. Lower the vehicle.
