Instrument Panel (IP) - Carrier Replacement



Instrument Panel (I/P) Carrier Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 , SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 , and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 in SIR.




2. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Assembly Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Assembly Replacement) .
3. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.
4. Remove the radio, if equipped. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
5. Remove the bolts that retain the remote keyless entry (RKE) module to the carrier.
6. Remove the RKE module from the carrier.
7. Remove the heater control assembly. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.




8. Remove the nuts that retain the assist handle from the passenger's side of the instrument panel.
9. Remove the screws that retain the cluster to the instrument panel carrier.




10. Pull the cluster from the instrument panel.




11. Remove the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .
12. Remove the nuts and bolts that retain the instrument panel steering column reinforcement bracket to the instrument panel carrier.



Installation Procedure


Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Install the nuts and bolts that retain the instrument panel steering column reinforcement bracket to the instrument panel carrier.

Tighten the nuts and bolts to the steering column reinforcement bracket to the instrument panel carrier to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).





2. Install the instrument panel trim pad. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Trim Panel Replacement) .




3. Install the instrument cluster to the instrument panel carrier with 4 retaining screws.




4. Install the nuts that retain the assist handle to the passenger's side of the instrument panel.

Tighten the nuts that retain the assist handle to the passenger's side of the instrument panel to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

5. Install the heater control head. Refer to HVAC Control Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
6. Install the 2 bolts that retain the RKE module to the carrier.

Tighten the 2 bolts that retain the RKE module to the carrier to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

7. Install the radio, if equipped. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
8. Install the inflatable restraint I/P module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in SIR.




9. Install the instrument panel to the vehicle. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Assembly Replacement (Instrument Panel (IP) - Assembly Replacement) .
10. Enable the SIR. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 , SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 , and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 in SIR.
