Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Disable the Restraints system.
3. Position the steering wheel half way between the upper and lower tilt stops.
4. Remove the lower steering column trim cover.
5. Remove the upper steering column trim cover (2) mounting screws (1).
6. Lift the upper steering column trim cover to gain access to the lock cylinder access hole.
7. Using a bent tip awl, insert the tip into the ignition lock cylinder access hole.
8. Turn the ignition lock cylinder to the START position.
9. Using the bent tip awl, push down on the ignition lock cylinder retaining pin.
10. Release the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position.
11. Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the ignition lock cylinder case by pulling the ignition lock cylinder away from the steering column.
Installation Procedure
1. Insert the ignition lock cylinder through the upper shroud.
2. Install the ignition lock cylinder to the ignition lock cylinder case by performing the this procedure:
^ Align the slots on the ignition lock cylinder case assembly to the tabs on the ignition lock cylinder.
^ Push the ignition lock cylinder into the ignition lock cylinder case assembly until the locking tab locks against the ignition lock cylinder case.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the mounting screws to the upper steering column trim cover.
^ Tighten the screws to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).
4. Install the lower steering column trim cover.
5. Enable the Restraints system.
6. Connect the battery negative cable.
7. Perform the PASSLOCK learn procedure. Service and Repair
