Condition

Some customers may comment that the outside mirror glass shakes or vibrates while driving.

Cause

The aluminum clips on the mirror glass may not hold the glass securely to the mirror actuator.

Correction

Replace the mirror glass ONLY using the following procedure:

Rotate the mirror glass into the full upward and outboard position as shown in the illustration above.

Position your fingers flat and insert them underneath the mirror glass raised corner. Your fingers should be positioned as close to the actuator as possible. This will insure more mirror glass surface area is used when removing the glass.

Be careful not to damage the mirror actuator.

Slowly but firmly lift the glass and backing plate from the actuator.

If equipped with heated mirrors, remove the wire harnesses from the back of the mirror.

Remove the mirror glass and backing plate assembly.

If equipped with heated mirrors, install the wire harness to the back of the mirror.

Align the anti-vibration spring with the housing bracket guides.

Center the glass and backing plate to the actuator.

Press firmly in the center of the glass using the palm of your hand. The mirror and backing assembly will snap onto the actuator.

Make sure the mirror glass is locked in place by lightly pulling up on the glass in all tour corners.
