Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications

Install NEW M12 cylinder head bolts.
Reuse the M8 cylinder head bolts.

Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the following steps using the sequence shown.
Tighten the M12 bolts a first pass 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
Tighten the M12 bolts a second pass 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)
Tighten the M12 bolts a third pass 60 degrees, using J45059.
Tighten the M12 bolts a final pass 60 degrees, using J45059.
Tighten the M8 bolts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)

Surface Flatness - Block Deck - Service Limit 0.2 mm (0.0079 inch)
Surface Flatness - Block Deck - Production Value 0.075 mm (0.0030 inch)
Surface Flatness - Exhaust Manifold Deck - Production Value 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch)
Surface Flatness - Intake Manifold Deck - Production Value 0.1 mm (0.0039 inch)

Intake Manifold - Left

Left Side:

Tighten the intake manifold bolts/nuts in the sequence shown.
Tighten the bolts/nuts 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)

Intake Manifold - Right

Right Side:

Tighten the intake manifold bolts/nuts in the sequence shown.
Tighten the bolts/nuts 21 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)

Exhaust Manifold - Left





Use the sequence shown to properly tighten the exhaust manifold bolts.
Tighten the bolts/nut 38 Nm (28 ft. lbs.)

Exhaust Manifold - Right





Using the sequence shown, properly tighten the exhaust manifold bolts.
Tighten the bolt/nuts 38 Nm (28 ft. lbs.)
