THIS PRODUCT ENHANCEMENT INCLUDES VEHICLES IN DEALER INVENTORY AND CUSTOMER VEHICLES THAT RETURN FOR ANY TYPE OF SERVICE, AND WILL EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE INVOLVED VEHICLE'S NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD.

Purpose

This bulletin provides a service procedure to remove the seven-blade engine cooling fan and install an eight-blade fan on certain 2007 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and HUMMER H3 vehicles. The seven-blade fan on these vehicles may cause excessive noise.

This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period, at which time this bulletin will expire.

Vehicles Involved





A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is attached to the Administrative Message (US) or Dealer Communication (Canada) used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, and are still covered under the vehicles base warranty, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided below, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system shown.

Important:
Dealers are to confirm vehicle elegitibility prior to beginning repairs by using GMVIS. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.





Parts Information

Parts required to complete this recall are to be obtained from General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO). Please refer to your "involved vehicles listing" before ordering parts. Normal orders should be placed on a DRO = Daily Replenishment Order. In an emergency situation, parts should be ordered on a CSO = Customer Special Order.

Service Procedure

Important:
Do not discard the fan clutch in the next step. You will install the new eight-blade fan to the existing the fan clutch.

1. Remove the seven-blade fan from the fan clutch. Refer to the Fan Replacement procedure in SI.

2. Install the new eight-blade fan to the existing fan clutch. Refer to the Fan Replacement procedure in SI.

3. Install the fan clutch assembly into the vehicle. Refer to the Fan Replacement procedure in SI.
