Door Replacement - Side Rear

Tools Required
* J 41226 Door Hinge Pin Drillout Kit
* J 41226-50 Door Hinge Pin Adapter Kit

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the side rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 40 Door) (Service and Repair)Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 60 Door) (Service and Repair) or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 40 Door) (Service and Repair)Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 60 Door) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the hinged side window or the stationary side window. Refer to Hinged Body Side Window Replacement (Hinged Body Side Window Replacement) or Body Side Stationary Window Replacement (Body Side Stationary Window Replacement) in Stationary Windows.
3. Remove the weatherstrips, if needed. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Side Rear Door Lower (Service and Repair) or Weatherstrip Replacement - Side Door Window (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the side rear door upper and lower door wedges from the door. Refer to Door Locator and Wedge Replacement - Sliding (Locator) (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the upper and the lower door latches. Refer to Latch Replacement - Side Door Upper (Service and Repair) andLatch Replacement - Side Door Lower (Service and Repair).
6. Remove the latch rods from the door.
7. Remove the latch handle. Refer to Latch Control Handle Replacement - Side Rear Door (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the latch striker. Refer to Striker Replacement Rear Side Access Door - Lower (Service and Repair).




9. Remove the side rear door hinge pins using theJ 41226 and the J 41226-50.
10. Remove the side rear door from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the side rear door to the vehicle with an assistant.
2. Install the side rear door hinge pins using theJ 41226 and the J 41226-50.
3. Install the latch striker. Refer to Striker Replacement Rear Side Access Door - Lower (Service and Repair).
4. Install the latch handle. Refer to Latch Control Handle Replacement - Side Rear Door (Service and Repair).
5. Install the latch rods to the door.
6. Install the upper and the lower door latches. Refer to Latch Replacement - Side Door Upper (Service and Repair) andLatch Replacement - Side Door Lower (Service and Repair).
7. Install the side rear door upper and lower door wedges to the door. Refer to Door Locator and Wedge Replacement - Sliding (Locator) (Service and Repair).
8. Install the weatherstrips, if needed. Refer to Weatherstrip Replacement - Side Rear Door Lower (Service and Repair) or Weatherstrip Replacement - Side Door Window (Service and Repair).
9. Install the hinged side window or the stationary side window. Refer to Hinged Body Side Window Replacement (Hinged Body Side Window Replacement) or Body Side Stationary Window Replacement (Body Side Stationary Window Replacement) in Stationary Windows.
10. Install the side rear door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 40 Door) (Service and Repair)Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Right (E24, 60 Door) (Service and Repair) or Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 40 Door) (Service and Repair)Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door - 60/40 Left (E26, 60 Door) (Service and Repair).
