Energy Storage Box (ESB) Fan Replacement



ENERGY STORAGE BOX (ESB) FAN REPLACEMENT

CAUTION:
- To reduce the risk of severe shock and burns, disable the 42 volt (42V) system anytime you perform service work on or around the energy storage box (ESB). The 42V system will still be active after you have disabled the ESB.
- To reduce the risk of severe shock and burns, always disconnect the 42 volt (42V) energy storage box (ESB) before doing any work to the ESB system. To disconnect the ESB, turn the engine off and turn OFF the service disconnect switch, which is located on the passenger side of the ESB.


REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the energy storage box (ESB) fuse power cable.
2. Remove the ESB power cable - battery 2 to battery 3.
3. Disconnect the outlet duct from the ESB duct.
4. Disconnect the battery vent tube from the fan duct.
5. Disconnect the fan electrical connector.
6. Remove the fan screws.
7. Remove the push pin fasteners.
8. Remove the screws attaching the air duct hose to the ESB.
9. Remove the fan and air duct hose.




10. If necessary, remove the screws (1) attaching the air duct hose (2) to the fan (3).
11. If necessary, remove the air duct hose (2) from the fan (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. If necessary, install the air duct hose (2) to the fan (3).
2. If necessary, install the screws (1) attaching the air duct hose (2) to the fan (3).

Tighten the screws to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Remove the ESB fuse power cable.
4. Remove the ESB power cable - battery 2 to battery 3.
5. Disconnect the outlet duct from the ESB duct.
6. Disconnect the battery vent tube from the fan duct.
7. Disconnect the fan electrical connector.
8. Remove the fan screws.
9. Remove the push pin fasteners.
10. Remove the screws attaching the air duct hose to the ESB.
11. Remove the fan and air duct hose.
12. Install the fan and air duct hose.
13. Install the screws attaching the air duct hose to the ESB.

Tighten the screws to 0.5 N.m (4.4 lb in).

14. Install the push pin fasteners.
15. Install the fan screws.

Tighten the screws to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

16. Connect the electrical connector to the fan.
17. Connect the battery vent tube to the fan duct.
18. Connect the outlet duct to the ESB duct.
19. Install the ESB power cable - battery 2 to battery 3.
20. Install the ESB fuse power cable.
