Fuel Injector Control Module: Service and Repair
FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Remove enough of the forward right side wheelhouse panel retainers in order to gain access to the front of the wheelhouse.
3. Loosen the fuel injection control module (FICM) mounting bracket screws (1).
4. Remove the connector position assurance lock and disconnect the electrical connector from the FICM.
5. Remove the lower right FICM mounting bracket screw (2).
6. Remove the FICM mounting bracket assembly (3) from the vehicle.
7. Remove the FICM insulator (3) mounting nuts (4).
8. Remove the FICM (2) from the mounting bracket (1).
9. Remove the insulators (3) from the FICM.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the FICM insulators (3) into the FICM (2).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the insulators finger tight.
2. Install the FICM (2) onto the mounting bracket (1) ensuring the connector is facing down.
3. Install the insulator nuts (4).
Tighten the nuts to 12 N.m (9 lb ft).
4. Slide the FICM mounting bracket (3) first onto one mounting screw (1) then onto the other mounting screw (1). Do not tighten the screws.
5. Install the lower right FICM mounting bracket screw (2).
Tighten all of the mounting screws to 12 N.m (9 lb ft).
6. Connect the electrical connector to the FICM and install the connector position assurance lock.
7. Install the right side wheelhouse panel retainers.
8. Install the negative battery cable.
