TECHNICAL

Bulletin No.: 09-08-44-001

Date: February 03, 2009

Subject:
Intermittent Dead Battery (Reprogram Radio)

Models:
2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado (New Style), Suburban, Tahoe
2007 GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali, Sierra (New Style)

with Radio RPO US8 or US9

Condition

Some customers may comment that the vehicle battery intermittently goes dead.

Cause

Under certain conditions, the radio (RPO US8 or RPO US9) may not shut down completely, causing a current draw on the battery.

Correction

Important:
Select the correct calibration files for the appropriate vehicle configuration (body style) and RPO codes.

A revised calibration has been developed to address this condition. Technicians are to reprogram the radio using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the Radio Setup procedures in SI. As always, make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.

Radios potentially affected include: RPO US8 (P/Ns 15868808, 15909951, and 25782841), and RPO US9 (P/Ns 15868809, 15909952, and 25782842).
