Information on Proper Removal of Center Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Using Trim Removal Tool J-36796
Models:
2007-2008 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2007-2008 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali, Yukon Denali XL
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to add the Avalanche model. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-49-016 (Section 08 - Body & Accessories).
Use the following procedure whenever the instrument panel accessory trim plate needs to be removed. If vehicle is equipped with a center console cup holder, it should be removed. Refer to Floor Console Bezel Replacement.
Use a small flat-bladed screwdriver next to the left hand corner of the instrument panel accessory trim plate and pull down as seen in the illustration above.
Install a plastic trim tool in the corner of the instrument panel accessory trim plate. This will give enough room to install the trim removal tool as seen in the illustration above.
Install the J 36796-Trim Removal Tool and work your way around the perimeter of the trim plate to release the clips as seen in the illustration above.
