Front Housing Disassemble

Tools Required

^ J 23907 Slide Hammer
^ J 36190 Driver Handle
^ J 36507 Shift Shaft Detent Bushing Remover and Installer
^ J 36800 Shift Rail Bushing Remover





1. Important:
Only remove the shift shaft bushing if the bushing is faulty.

Using the J 36800 (2) and J 23907 (1), remove the shift shaft front housing bushing.





2. Important:
Discard all bushings removed during this procedure.

Using J 36507 (2) and the J 36190 (1), remove the 2 detent lever bushings.
^ Remove 1 bushing at a time.
^ Remove the bushing through the shift shaft bearing bore.





3. Inspect the countershaft front bearing race.
4. Using a suitable blind hole puller and a slide hammer, remove the front countershaft bearing race.





5. Using a punch and hammer, remove the input shaft bearing from the clutch housing.





6. If necessary, remove the vent from the front housing. The vent can be removed with a pair of pliers.
