With Automatic Transmission

Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection (Automatic Transmission)
1. Clean the flex plate in solvent.

2. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution.

Dry the flex plate with compressed air.





3. Inspect the flex plate for the following conditions:
^ Stress cracks around the engine flex plate-to-torque converter mounting bolt hole locations (1) and/or engine flex plate-to-crankshaft (2, 3)

^ Important: Do not attempt to repair the welded areas that retain the ring gear to the flex plate. Install a new flex plate.

^ Damaged or missing ring gear teeth (5)
