Cruise Control Switch Indicator Inoperative

Diagnostic Instructions

Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) monitors the cruise control indicator switch. When the cruise on/off switch is pressed ON, the cruise control switch is closed and the signal circuit is low. When the cruise on/off switch is pressed OFF, the cruise control switch is open and the signal circuit is high.

Circuit/System Testing

Important: Refer to DTC B3794 before performing this diagnostic, if this code is set as current or history. B3794

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector X3 at the BCM.
2. Connect a fused jumper between the low reference terminal 22 and ground.
3. Ignition ON, cruise control switch ON, verify that the steering wheel control switch-left LED is illuminated.

If the LED does not illuminate, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the steering wheel controls switch-left.

4. If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
