Condition
Some customers may comment that the engine will not crank. Technicians may find that the vehicle's battery is dead or in a low state of charge.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the radio remaining powered up, after the ignition is turned off, waiting for a CD player auto-reload to be completed, resulting in a battery draw.
Correction
Important:
If a parasitic load test is performed after the radio reprogramming is completed, it is important to realize that the BCM may stay awake for up to 45 minutes after the key is removed from the ignition.
A revised calibration has been developed to address this condition. Technicians are to reprogram the radio using SPS with the latest software available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the Service Programming System (SPS) procedure in SI for more information. As always make sure your Tech 2(R) is updated with the latest software version.
