DTC C0292
Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
DTC Descriptor
DTC C0292 00
- VSES Combination Sensor Circuits
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) supplies a reference voltage of 5 volts to the yaw rate sensor/lateral accelerometer sensor and the steering angle sensor. The sensor supply voltage is monitored via an internal feedback circuit to the EBCM microprocessor.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* The ignition is ON.
* Ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The EBCM detects that the sensor supply voltage is less than 4.75 volts or greater than 5.25 volts for 30 milliseconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* The EBCM turns OFF the 5-volt reference circuit, until the ignition is cycled.
* The EBCM disables the traction control system (TCS)/vehicle stability enhancement system (VSES) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present and the DTC is cleared with a scan tool.
* The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.
Diagnostic Aids
If the yaw rate sensor and lateral accelerometer sensor is disconnected, DTCs will set and the EBCM will not provide 5-volt reference.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the yaw rate and lateral accelerometer sensor connector X318.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the low reference circuit Connector X318, terminal C6 and ground.
• If greater than 1 ohm, test the low reference circuit and the EBCM ground circuits terminals 11 and 28 for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the EBCM.
3. Test the lateral accelerometer signal circuits Connector X318, terminal A6 and A5 the 5-volt reference circuit terminal B6, and the low reference circuit terminal C6 for an open/high resistance or a short to voltage or ground.
• If all circuits test normal, replace the yaw rate sensor and lateral accelerometer sensor, and perform the yaw rate reference table resetting in the EBCM.
• If the DTC sets again after replacing the yaw rate sensor and lateral accelerometer sensor, replace the EBCM.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
* Control Module References for EBCM replacement, setup, and programming-Perform the yaw rate reference table reset when instructed. Refer to Yaw Rate Reference Table Resetting (Programming and Relearning) .
* Vehicle Yaw Sensor with Vehicle Lateral Accelerometer Replacement (Service and Repair) -Perform the yaw rate reference table resetting procedure. Refer to Yaw Rate Reference Table Resetting (Programming and Relearning) when instructed during the yaw rate sensor replacement procedure.
